FAQs: Our Styling Services

At Indyx, all our styling services are firmly grounded in your real (digital) closet.

This is a totally different approach to digital styling, and is an experience that we can uniquely offer since you’ve already done all the hard work of digitizing your closet to manage your wardrobe and plan your own outfits.

But your closet (whether IRL or digital) can be a lonely place, so inviting in an expert to share knowledge and show you new possibilities might be just the unlock you need to finally feel creative and empowered in getting dressed.

You might have some questions about exactly how process works, so let’s get those answered.

How do you choose your stylists?

We love to partner with creators who...

  • share our mindset around mindful consumption and agree that starting from the closet you already have is the best way to work on your style

  • have a POV on personal style and how to develop it

  • are energized by working 1:1 to help others figure out their unique style

  • use Indyx themselves to manage their closet and style outfits!

How should I choose a stylist?

Find someone who 1. fits your budget and 2. fits your vibe! You can take a peek at...

  • Their own wardrobe & the outfits they’ve styled for themselves in their Open Closet (click on the icon in their stylist profile!)

  • Their social media accounts

  • Their reviews from other clients

When browsing stylists on the app, you can also click the “Best Match” icon to see who best matches with you based on your Style Quiz results.

Indyx makes it easy to try a few stylists before landing on your perfect long-term match, so go with your gut and you can always choose to “date” someone else later!

Which service should I choose?

We’ve designed our services like a menu...you can choose just one or put them together to suit your needs!

The Feed is our most popular service and is best for someone who is on a style journey. You are evolving your style and want a partner to support you all along the way.

The Lookbook is best for someone who already has a decent handle on their personal style but wants an expert eye to show them new possibilities and get excited about experimenting. It’s also perfect as a seasonal refresh or to pack for a trip.

The Call is like style therapy. It’s best for someone who has a few specific hangups to work through - or, it’s also great as a get-to-know-you before jumping into The Feed or The Lookbook.

How much does it cost?

The ability to be styled digitally makes expert styling much more accessible than traditional in-person styling, which typically starts at thousands of dollars.

The Feed starts at just $25 a month, and you can cancel your subscription anytime. The Lookbook and The Call both start in the low $100s.

Each stylist sets their own price for each service, so what you pay depends on which stylist you choose. The app is always the best place to see full up-to-date details!

And, remember that styling yourself in the app is absolutely free! You can very much use Indyx and never pay for any of our expert styling services.

How many items do I need indexed to get styled?

We hold a minumum of 25 items indexed to your digital wardrobe before we can start styling, but we really highly recommend at least 50.

There are two reasons for this.

The first is that your closet is a *huge* way that your stylist gets to know you. They learn so much more about you and what you need from your closet than any questionnaire or Pinterest board could tell them.

Second, our services are all about finding fun, cool, gorgeous ways to wear your clothes. We believe at our core that’s the best way for you to uncover your true personal style. We can recommend some new items, but most of the styled outfits consist of clothes from your closet that you can wear right away. So, we need to have enough items to build those outfits!

We prefer that you wait until your digital wardrobe is ready to be styled before booking a service.

If you need a little help indexing, check out our DIY tips! Or, you can always book The Catalog (available in select cities), a service where we come to you to give you an 100-item jump start.

What does my stylist know about me?

The magic of Indyx is that your digital wardrobe automatically tells your stylist *so much* about you.

Your stylist can automatically see..

  • Your full digital wardrobe (except for any items you’ve archived or tagged as “do not style”)

  • All the outfits you’ve already saved

  • Your location, profile image, and selfies

  • Your Style Quiz results and your chosen style words

After booking, you’ll also get a chance to share things like...

  • A Pinterest board or your other social profiles

  • If you want new items styled in or not

  • Any other specific styling requests

Since we launched our digital styling services about a year ago, we’ve had the pleasure of working with nearly 1,000 (!) clients to help curate their closets and develop their style. Read our takeaways.

Can you help me shop for new items?

Yes! We ground everything in what you already have, but that doesn’t mean we can’t add to that.

You can ask your stylist to recommend up to 6 new items as part of The Lookbook.

If you want to use The Feed to request that your stylist recommend a new item every single week, we can do that, too!

Every shopping recommendation is always styled into an outfit from your closet so you can see how it fits in and exactly how to wear it right from the start.

We don’t currently make a dime off any items you buy, but your stylist might make their own commission.

Can I make specific styling requests?

Yes! Our styling services are completely personal and customized, so you can absolutely make specific requests.

After booking The Lookbook, you’ll have a chance to share more about what you’re looking for from the service.

With The Feed, you can choose to submit requests and your stylist will fulfill one each week. These request types are:

  • Item Styling: “help me style this item”

  • Occasion Styling: “style me for this occasion”

  • Item Disovery: “show me something new!”

We actually *love* when clients submit requests, because it makes the experience more of a conversation and we usually find that you’ll get more out of the experience.

How fast is the turnaround?

Most services with most stylists will deliver you results within a week.

The Feed is published every Friday morning.

Depending on which stylist you choose for The Lookbook, they may be a little more booked out. 90%+ of bookings still have a one-week turnaround, but we’ve seen waits for some stylists reach up to about 6 weeks. After booking, we’ll reach out via email to share your expected delivery date based on their current queue.

If you need to know your timeline before booking, then reach out to us at [email protected] and we‘d be happy to share the current wait for the stylist(s) you’re considering.

Do I get revisions?

This depends on the nature of the service you’ve chosen.

The Feed is an ongoing relationship between you and your stylist. So, you are welcome to ask your stylist to help iterate on an outfit and they can spend some of the time they have with you the next week to do so!

The Lookbook is an on-demand service and to keep pricing as accessible as possible while protecting your stylist’s time and effort, we cannot guarantee revisions. It is up to each stylist whether they can fulfill any revision requests on a case-by-case basis.

In general, we see outfits as a vehicle for sparking new possibilities and sharing knowledge so that you can more reliably create your own killer combos. The value in our services is much more about what you learn from the outfits as a whole rather than getting each one exactly “right”.
