In this article we will be comparing two wardrobe apps: Stylebook and Save Your Wardrobe. They have very different features so we recommend prioritizing what matters most to you. But if compromising isn’t really your thing, we might have something in the back for you.
What Is a Wardrobe App?
A wardrobe app is a platform that allows you to digitally organize your clothes. All wardrobe apps allow you to upload images of your clothes, usually through a DIY method but some apps also offer services to make this process easier. You can use your digital wardrobe to combine items into new outfit combinations to see how they look without having to make a mess of your closet, or pre-plan outfits ahead of time for no-stress mornings.
But, it doesn’t stop there! Most apps offer additional features beyond cataloging and outfit styling, but these features will vary from app to app. For example Save Your Wardrobe focuses on connecting users with repair and alteration services while Stylebook allows you to schedule outfits for the week. Many apps also offer simple analytics on your wardrobe data, and organizational features like packing lists to help you prepare for any upcoming trips.

Save Your Wardrobe has a clean, snappy interface and covers all the basics of a good wardrobe app for planning, organizing and managing.
You build your digital wardrobe by uploading photos with automatic background removal, and the app scans your photo to automatically tag it with attributes like category and color. This is great when it works but the tool often makes mistakes, leaving you to manually correct your tags.
Once you’ve built your digital wardrobe, you can accomplish all the same basic functions like planning outfits, scheduling them in a calendar, and building curated lists of items. You can build an infinite number of outfits using their outfit collage feature and add a background color that matches the aesthetic you are going for.
Save Your Wardrobe also attempts to connect you to local services like repair, alterations, and dry cleaners. It is more than just a simple directory, taking you through a matchmaking flow to learn about the type of service you’re looking for and then providing you with their best match provider and a cost estimate. However, these services are only currently available in London with no timeline on when they’ll expand.
Save Your Wardrobe also offers a few analytics to give you insight into your wardrobe, for example the brand and color distribution of your clothes. Most uniquely, you can also view the sustainability ratings of your items through a partnership with Good on You.
Our opinion on Save Your Wardrobe:
Save Your Wardrobe is clean, fast, and generally easy to use but really only has basic self-serve organizing and tracking functionality. It doesn’t deliver a larger vision to support improving your style or circularity for the items you no longer need.
App Store reviews corroborate that beyond the core organizing and tracking functions, many of Save Your Wardrobe’s extra features are a little half-baked. For example, their wardrobe analytics don’t offer any insights on how often your things are actually used, which seems pretty important for users who are trying to maximize the use of their wardrobe.
The matchmaking with local care & repair services is an interesting addition, as this is one area where it appears they are building out a greater ecosystem to get more life from your wardrobe. It’s great if you live in London, but for the foreseeable future it’s not much help if you’re located well, anywhere else.
Who Save Your Wardrobe is for:
If you are looking to simply have a digital wardrobe and make outfits, then Save Your Wardrobe may be a good fit. But while Save Your Wardrobe App is pretty seamless in that basic capacity, it’s not going to actively help you find your style, use more of your closet or fill in the gaps of your wardrobe.

Stylebook is an OG option that is pretty bare-bones and won’t win any design awards, but does the job of being a basic wardrobe app for planning and organizing - and its loyal fanbase loves them for it.
Stylebook charges a one-time fee of $4.99 to download the app, but after that you will get lifetime access to its suite of features. Upload your photos, and you can use their background removal tool to create a clean wardrobe. It isn’t automatic, and can be somewhat fussy to use but it generally gets the job done.
You can style unlimited outfits, schedule and track wear, create packing lists, and view wardrobe analytics. One of its most unique features is that you users can select if items are clean, in the laundry, at the cleaners, or lent to someone else to avoid styling an outfit that is unavailable. Stylebook also helps you shop better by allowing you to save your favorite stores and wanted items, as well as keep track of your sizes and measurements.
The Style Shuffle feature allows you to select categories to shuffle together like a deck of cards to reveal new outfit ideas for inspiration. You will also be able to create mini mood boards for your outfits as well as share with any of your friends.
In the Inspiration tab, users can add pictures of themselves wearing their favorite looks to their outfit collage. Additionally you can create several different inspiration folders for seasons, trips, events, and even your wedding.
The app does not have any styling services but you can read the Style Q&A in the app for some closet organizing tips and style guides every so often.
Our opinion on Stylebook
Stylebook is a no-frills option if you just want some basic functionality to upload your closet, build outfits, and track wear - but there just isn’t too much beyond that. It’s good for organization, but doesn’t truly help you get any more style out of your closet or circulate any items you’re no longer using.
It doesn’t rely on any fancy design, and has a very bare bones approach to its user experience. However, unlike Whering, what it does, it is well thought out. It tracks and analyses cost per wear, color breakdown, total wardrobe cost - after you have manually added this information, of course. The issue is that it doesn’t have much to offer - there are no styling or resale services.
The app does have a single one time payment of $4.99, and no in app purchases to unlock more - but that’s because there are no additional features. Once you’ve bought the app, Stylebook isn’t providing you with any services, it depends on your manual input and an algorithm from a few years ago.
Who Stylebook is for:
If all you’re looking for is to see all your clothes digitally and be able to organize or schedule them, then this is the app for you. If you’re looking for styling advice, ready-made outfits by a human stylist and using your wardrobe fully, then this is not the app for you. They have excellent reviews for all of their features, but you have to lower your expectations of ‘all’ because it is a very limited list of features.
